Three Reasons to Choose Genuine Replacement Car Parts

No matter how well you look after your car, they all have a life cycle, and are going to need repairs at some point, whether that simply be a small bump or a key component needs replacing.

Either way, when your vehicle does need maintenance, you generally will either take it to the manufacturer’s official dealership or to an independent garage.

So, what’s the difference? The main thing is that independent garages will usually use aftermarket parts, which are often cheaper, while the dealership will use genuine ones.

So why would you opt for genuine parts? We’re going to take a look at three reasons why you should consider it.Image result for genuine car parts

Quality

The most important thing when purchasing any parts for your vehicle is their quality, and the performance that you’re going to get out of them.

While it would be oversimplifying things to say that genuine parts are always of a higher quality than aftermarket, it is helpful to understand how both are made.

Genuine car parts are exactly the same as the ones which they are replacing, and have been made specifically with your vehicle in mind.

On the other hand, aftermarket parts are built to be multi-purpose and will be used with various makes and models of car.

This means that they might not work as well with the other components of the vehicle and could compromise the quality.

For more information, we spoke to a genuine Honda parts dealer, Cox Motor Parts who said: “Each part works in conjunction with others to produce a single output. Compromise one part and you may unknowingly compromise a whole system.

“Only genuine Honda parts have the quality, reliability and performance that make them the easy choice every time.”Image result for genuine car parts

Safety

Of course, safety is also vital when it comes to your vehicle, and not something which you should ever compromise on just to make a quick saving.

And while not all aftermarket parts are unsafe, you certainly are running something of a risk by installing them over genuine parts.

This is because they haven’t been designed with your vehicle in mind, and should something go wrong, they might not respond exactly as you need them to.

At the end of the day, genuine car parts give you a peace of mind that you don’t get with aftermarket parts, as you can see in this post from Love to Know.

Warranty

When you buy your vehicle, whether new or used, it should come with a warranty of some kind, which will guarantee it if anything goes wrong.

However, certain aftermarket parts can count as ‘modifications’, so will mean that the car is no longer ‘as bought’, so this will void the warranty.

Of course, this isn’t a blanket rule, so it’s worth checking before you make any decisions to install aftermarket parts.

It’s also worth noting that the parts themselves probably won’t be covered by warranty, unlike with genuine parts.

You can read more about how aftermarket parts will affect your warranty in this post from Consumer Reports.
